Connick Tree Care places great emphasis on the provision of a safe working environment. In an industry that is fraught with dangers, it is critically important that staff are properly trained and appropriately equipped to carry out their duties. Connick Tree Care understands and implements a thorough risk assessment procedure on all its operations, using our Connick Tree Care risk assessment for commercial arboriculture and mock site specific risk assessment, assessment documents all in compliance with Management of Health and Safety at work Act, 1999. Continued professional development within the company is viewed as a way of raising skill levels and maintaining high safety standards. Field staff and management are constantly monitored to ensure they are operating safely, productively and in compliance with HSE and Industry Best Practice Guidelines. Monitoring is implemented through spot checks and 6 monthly appraisals. These give management a true picture of staff performance and training needs and provides an avenue for product quality assurance. Connick Tree Care has invested heavily in all aspects of staff training, areas covered include, risk assessment, NPTC in chain saw use, climbing, aerial rescue, pesticide application, MEWP’s, street works signing and guarding, LOLER, chipper use, first aid, veteran tree management and RFS Cert Arb. Connick Tree Care is fully compliant with HSE PUWER 98 regulations, LOLER regulations, AIS 38, Personal Protective Equipment at Work regulations 1992. Machinery and equipment is regularly services and inspected. Connick Tree Care carefully monitors the market place for safety innovations, evaluating each on a practical and safety level, e.g. we are now retiring 3 way action karibiners and replacing them with a 4 way action device. Connick Tree Care has also issued Kevlar forearm guards to protect against pullsaw cuts. Connick Tree Care is purchasing the innovative stihl 361 chainsaw, which has the most advanced anti vibration system available, protecting against hand arm vibration complaints. Connick Tree Care has also compiled an “Arb Equipment Rationale”, which helps staff identify flaws in their equipment and which provides valuable information on maintenance and good house keeping. Connick Tree Care places great emphasis on Health and Safety and the continued professional development of all staff, there is clearly a positive correlation between thorough, appropriate training and the reduction of risk. Ongoing training ensures staff are motivated, skilled and competent to carry out their daily tasks. It is important not to become complacent and identify areas where training is required. |
