LEADING TREE COMPANY MAKES PIGS HAPPY

Connick Tree Care has announced success in its bid for the arboricultural business of The Zoological Society of London.  The contract has been awarded by the Zoo’s Curator of Plants and will cover the maintenance of trees and boundaries.

Initial work is primarily concerned with clearances but this is a very eco-friendly process, with much of the material being recycled and put to positive and beneficial use for both Zoo residents and visitors.

Direct beneficiaries of this are, according to a Zoo spokesperson, bearded pigs and red river hogs, animals that delight in snuffling about in the chippings, searching for food.  The wood chippings are also usefully employed for walkways and paths throughout the Zoo

Amongst other machines on site, Connick is using the American-built Vermeer BC1400XL, a diesel -powered, ‘state of the art’ wood chipper which was supplied by B-Trac of Wellingborough, Northants.  B-Trac is Vermeer’s sole UK & Ireland distributor.  Mike Connick, CTC’s  Managing Director has been using Vermeer chippers for the last 10 years and says he is always impressed by the quality of build, the exceptional back up service  and rates the BC1400 as ‘just awesome’.

Connick may also be involved in work on the completely new gorilla enclosure, which is due to open at Easter 2007.  The Zoo will be creating a show garden at the Chelsea Flower Show this year and, within it, will replicate key design elements of this important new amenity.

The Zoo contract is just one of a run of recent successes for the Company and Mike Connick, believes that one reason for this happy state of affairs is CTC’s improved quality and competitiveness.  This is largely due, he says, to the acquisition of new plant and extended staff training, along with the formalising of the successful operational procedures.

Based in Surrey, London and Sussex but operating throughout South-East England, CTC is one of the South-East’s leading arboricultural companies and has been in business for more than 20 years, providing advice on tree care and management to Municipal Clients, Parks Authorities, Local Authorities, commercial organisations and, of course, homeowners.
